Monday Motivation

Today's motivation may connect with you or not.  Today is my Em's 3rd birthday.  Three years ago today she came into my life and I have been forever changed.  She has blessed my life in ways I never expected and I LOVE being a Mom.  However you know what didn't love being a Mom....my body!  It could have been the 50+lbs I gained with her!  Even though I took spin class daily and weight trained, I was still in probably the worst shape of my life.  I turned 30 a few weeks after and this picture is what is motivating me today:
It motivates me to remember how uncomfortable I felt in my body at that time and the work it took to get back and lose 60+lbs!
How about you?  What is motivating you to keep going forward today instead of sliding back?

On a side note, I finally was able to get into my gmail account and found months of emails and responses from all of you!  I apologize for not getting back to you sooner!!!  Sometimes technology is not my friend!

  1. Yea!!! for you Nancy making the choice 3 years ago and every day to be a healthy mom. It does connect with me as I see the un-healthy choices I make affect who I am as a mom and person. You are a great example to your daughter and us moms. Have a Merry Christmas!

  9. Love the matching tutu outfits - super cute!

I feel like I could easily get into a "sliding back" motion right now. It's not child related, but recovering from my surgery has set me back over about a week and half now. Looks like it might take another several days to a week to add some "jogging" into my walks, and then hopefully I can start moving forward again.

But with everything on (oh, and including Christmas!), I almost feel out of my routine. Scary..

    Thanks for the reminder :)

  11. My daughter took a picture of me on the beach last year and my mother put it on her refrigerator - that definitely inspired me to start running this last January! I want to be a healthy role model for my girl. BTW, love the tutus!

  19. What wonderful progress you've made!! Congrats, girl! That last pic of you two in tu-tus is oh-so-adorable!!

I get motivated working out in group classes (body pump, spinning, zumba,& bosu cardio are a few of my faves)

There is a quote i saw on Pinterest that keeps me going on the days I just don't feel like doing much of any exercise...

"Even if you're running slow, you're still passing everyone on the couch!"

  20. Nancy that is awesome and I know I'm late but happy birthday to Em :)

I just blogged about motivation and inspiration. Not quite the story of your success but motivation that I'm using to stay on track, no pun intended :), during the holidays.

    Have a great day!

  22. I'm always telling my runner mom friends, and I'll tell you too, my blogger/runner mom friend - you are setting an AMAZING example for your daughter! You arev eaching her that fitness is a way of life, not a chore. That being active can be FUN! And most importantly, that you think enough of yourself to make the time, even when it most certainly isn't easy, to invest in your own well being. Much more powerful than words are your actions. Because what she grows up SEEING you do is what she'll grow up learning how to live. Good for you!
