Fitness Friday...To Gym or Not to Gym

That is the million dollar question it seems....well the $20 question since that is what my gym membership is costing me these days!  When I first joined my gym it was minutes from my house which made it super convenient to go before work.  I ignored the fact that they didn't have any classes really that I could take and the equipment was well...not super because I have always belonged to a gym and loved going.  Now that it is no longer convenient to get there...and the whole baby thing...I've been basically donating $20 for the last two months!  I'm thinking I need to cancel and save that money each month to go towards a gym that is closer but more expensive...or these bad boys...
or a race entry or two!

That leaves me with one bump in the road....weights.  The cardio I can handle but baby left me with well...some loose areas!  I have hand weights but need to get one higher weight like a 20lbs or so.  I also need to find ways to mix things up minus the gym atmosphere or an instructor leading the way.  My first solution...
I have heard so many amazing things about Tina and Best Body Bootcamp and I can't wait to start my year off right with 8 weeks of butt kickings!!!
Had any good butt kickings lately??  Share away!!

  1. I'm not a gym -er. I know "they" ay women should lift weights, but I try to use my body weight (when I even do it). Bootcamp looks a little scary to me!

    I like to run. I'm a runner ;)

  5. my work offers bootcamp (obviously every bootcamp is going to be different, but i absolutely love it!)
You should find out if the one you are going to has kettlebells--- such a total body workout with one piece of equipment and it has definitely helped my arms and back these last 6 months!

  6. If the gym isn't close, it will be hard to go for sure. I would find something closer to home. Bootcamp sounds like a great idea:)

  7. Only $20???? I'm more than a little jealous. Our family membership is over $100, but I'm the only one who really uses it. Occasionally the husband will go.

I've kicked the strength training up a notch and I'm sore in places I didn't even know I had muscles. Tonight is legs. Tomorrow I'll need help using the toilet.

  8. They just opened an express gym by me that is $10, otherwise I wouldn't go to the gym. If I don't go to the gym, I never do weights. The boot camp sounds great, though!

  9. If I were you I'd cancel and check thrift stores, yard sales, or Craig's list for weights. You can always snag some cheap ones that have never been used.

  10. I think you'll be best to swap the gym for bootcamp, at least for now if it's challenging to get there. With a toddler and a 3 year old I don't get as much time to gym it anymore, so I've ramped up my home workouts and a kettle bell was one of my best investments. I'm sure you'll be provided with both exercises requiring weights and body weight exercises, that and your running will tone you up in no time. Let us know how it goes.

  11. Used to be a gym goer but we we were fortunate to be able to remodel our garage into a full home gym.

I would cancel the membership and use the $ towards weights first. That's just me!

I have done all rounds of Tina's Best Body Bootcamp and love it. I get something different from it each time. Oh and I'm giving away TWO entries on my blog for bootcamp. Feel free to drop by and enter.

  12. I love my gym membership, but that is because I pretty much do ALL of my workouts when I am responsible for watching my kids, and the gym has daycare. Once the kids are both in school, we might be back to square 1 with the gym membership too.
