I don't know how to have less, except I have been having half decaf each time in an effort to still "feel" like I am having a cup of coffee, but it's only half as much caffeine. It seems to work for me! Only in the past 6 months or so have I regularly started drinking a cup in the am and most days I can't finish it. My MO is to workout and have a nalgene while I workout and finish it, then shower, breakfast, then coffee. I do feel a slump around 4ish, sometimes I will use a caffinated nuun tab.

I am always worried that someone is going to say something about my belly. I carry most of my extra weight in my stomach and I know it could look like I am expecting. Then try to switch to decaf tea to ease yourself off of it. My morning hit, after a glass of water with lime or lemon squeezed into it, and a few sips at night. The rest of the day I drink green tea. Are you able to take a short walk break instead of a coffee break? 10 min of fresh air might revive you just as much as that coffee.
