Here's the topic for today's episode of "Coffee Talk"....remember SNL....discuss....ha! There is a big race going on today down on Cape Cod called the Falmouth Road Race. It's a big race, about 10,000 runners and has a lottery system for all non Falmouth residents. Yeah around these parts and most of New England this is a big deal race. It's a race on most runners' bucket list....ok and mine too! Either way since we live close to Falmouth the area is swimming with runners....you can really pick us people out in a crowd!!! Last night we headed out to dinner locally and there were several tables of people talking about the race. My hubby asked me a very good question as one table ordered another round of very large beers and nachos.....Is this how runners get ready for a race? My response was, not if they want to finish! I know that eats like that before a race would leave me begging for mercy around mile 5!
What about you.....
How do you prerace? Are you a beer and nachos runner or do you do something different?
Good luck to all of you racing today!!! Go rock it!!!!
The night before my last race, I had Mexican food and things turned out very well. I doubt I will make a habit of that. :)
ReplyDeleteI am usually a simple pasta girl myself! I did have mexican food the night before one half and the race was horrible! It wasn't because of the food, though :)
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling of powerful legs. I wish I felt like that more often! But when I do, it's bliss!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a prerace routine, because I don't race.
I like to eat No Yolk egg noodles with Buitoni alfredo sauce...mmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was unemployed and had an interview-my husband used to get me a bagel and cup of coffee from Brueggers bagels.
oh-and post race (or really long workout) I like ice cold beer (just one-anymore will make me sick)...thinking about having smuggle one into the hospital for post baby.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your great long run! I haven't had one of those since spring and I miss them big time! I'm trying to work my way back up.
ReplyDeletePasta and water for me, although I did have a glass of wine last time and I don't think it had any ill effect.
I had lasagna last night and drank water all day. NO soda at all, just focused on hydrating.
ReplyDeleteFalmouth rocked this year. I had the best time and a great race! You have to do it next year Nancy. We should try to meet up!!
I don't have a specific pre-race routine, but I do try to make balanced choices. Definitely lots of water.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fantastic long run!
ReplyDeleteMy pre-race meals are usually pretty simple - pancakes, simple pasta or pizza. Nachos and beer would be the end of my race, no doubt!
I'm a pizza, water, and early to bed runner :) Beer and nachos if I don't really care....which I don't think has happened yet.
