Since having Aub, I have made a huge effort (especially lately when sleeveless and short are starting to enter my fashion vocab) to incorporate a lot more strength training. While I could honestly justify carrying Aub in the carrier (seriously she weighs just shy of 20lbs and then that GIANT carrier must add at least 10lbs) as weight training, I know I need to do more. This week I started Blonde Ponytail's Summer Shape-Up Plan and I couldn't be more psyched!
They are killer workouts! She's awesome and is now a new mom to a beautiful baby girl (and already looks AMAZE)!
Last night however, I went outside my comfort zone (yes I love classes but I am always nervous on the first day) and went to a Team class at my gym. We did 9 exercises for 45 seconds on and 10 off for 3 rounds. Let me just say these brightly colored balls of lead are deceiving....
They look cute and nice but they kick my butt!!! I left with a giant smile on my face and a personal training appointment for next week...I mean when the trainer says, "I can see that cute, rocking body in there" how can you not book an appointment on the spot?!
Have you ever used kettle bells? What is something you've gone out of your comfort zone to try?
LOOOVE THE KB!
ReplyDeletefor me it is all running---that is soo out of my zone of comfy.
I have never used kettlebells, I keep thinking I will buy one, but then I see how much they cost and I walk away! I guess I am to thrifty to spend the money when I have other things I can use, I really want one though! Great job getting out of your comfort zone and getting a personal trainer.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I do think weights are such an important component for us all. I don't cherish strength work, but I am faithful to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jess rocks!
Love kettlebells and strength work in general!
ReplyDeleteWay to try out the new class - sounds like it was a lot of "fun"!!!
I tried Zumba a few weeks ago - way out of my comfort zone - and I've continued to go back 2x a week!!!
Good for you to try a new workout!
ReplyDeleteI love kettlebells. I have a 10 lb Reebok kettlebell that came with a DVD that has 2 workouts on it. Really works me hard!
I love love love kettlebells and I bet, in no time, you will too!
ReplyDeleteI love what the trainer said! I have done kettlebells - it kicks my butt. I am not good at stepping out of my comfort zone - have been wanting to try a spinning class BUT am afraid to walk in the door!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I have not tried Kettlebells; in fact, I just realized that it's BELL not BALL. Ha! I have read stories of people using them wrong and doing damage, so I guess I have been a bit shy of them! I had 10 extra minutes at the gym yesterday so I did some chest presses, military presses and butterfly presses and today I am SORE! I guess I need some strength training! Let me know what works for you; I can always use some tips!
ReplyDeleteYay for booking you PT appt.! Those keetle bells are so pretty, I want to go out right now and buy some;)
ReplyDeleteI have one KB at home, but never used it. Oooppss!! Good job on getting your strength training in!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! Love new classes! I've used kettle bells but never in a class-FUN!!! Enjoy your first appointment! And yes, Jess-Blonde Ponytail does look fab and you do too :-)
