Fitness Friday...Treadmill Burn

I am certainly not a personal trainer...nor do I claim to be as good as one...but I'm pretty good at replicating classes and such that I have done in the past.  One class that I used to LOVE was called Burn.  You could take it either on the treadmill or the spin bike with a personal trainer in a group...basically it was an ass whooping in an hour!  You would alternate between the bike/mill and weights/resistance bands.  I have been trying to recreate the class in my basement while Aubrey is napping.  Now while it is not at it's not quite at ass whooping level right now, I am looking forward to ramping it up soon!

First I rigged up my treadmill so that I could easily move from mill to weights quickly.
Oh yeah...I hit 1000 miles on Wednesday!!!
Then it was on!
5 min warm-up
5 min run
squats w/ bicep curl, step-ups w/ lateral raise, tricep kickbacks
10 min walk at 15 incline
chest press with band, squat row with band, push up on mill
10 min run (increase speed each minute)
squat jumps, plank push ups, tricep dips
10 min walk at 15 incline with hand weights (usually 3lbs)
lunges with front raise, hammer curls, dead lifts with reverse fly
5 min run (all out)
5 min cool down

Now note that I do not have a lot of exercises that involve my core/ab muscles in this.  This is due to the fact that I have not been cleared to really exercise and do not want to risk injury or complications from my c-section.

I love that I get in 40 minutes of cardio in and am still doing weight training as well!  This always keeps my heart rate soaring!  Bonus is that I can earn lots of points for the HBBC which starts on Monday....DO NOT forget to sign up!!!

Fitness Friday....Holiday Fitness

Oh yes it is that time of year again!!!  That time when desserts are making their way to our counter tops and when time could be as valuable as liquid gold...or gasoline depending on where you live!  The trick is getting through this time of year without a layer of insulation like you are ready to take a long winter's nap...and some (me included) want to lose during this time!  There are two challenges that I have done for several years that have really helped me to stay motivated and in my jeans through the holiday season!  Seriously check them out...you will NOT be sorry!!!

Monica from Run Eat Repeat is hosting Pile on the Miles again this year.  It starts on November 1 and lasts until December 1st.  It's literally how many miles you can pile on during that month so that the lbs don't pile on instead.  Head over and sign up!!!

Amanda over at Run to the Finish is again hosting the Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge this year.  I love this challenge too since you get points for not only miles but also weight training, eating veggies, and just moving your body!  Head on over to check it out....and don't forget to tell her that Fancy Nancy sent you!!

How do you keep the added lbs away during this time of year???

Three Things Thursday

Every year I say to myself..."Never again!  I am going to get my shopping done early so I can just enjoy Christmas" and well every single year in true Fancy Nancy form I am ready to tear my hair out trying to get last minute things! Left on my list are....let's see EVERY stocking stuffer just about that I need!  I can do it but I need to learn from my mistakes....next year I'm all over it!  In an effort to stay positive, here are 3 things I have actually done well this holiday season....

1.  The weight game....While trying to rack up as many HBBC points as humanly (well for this working mom) possible I have actually lost 2lbs during this holiday craziness!  I am attributing this to HBBC, Holiday Shred, my competitive spirit, and my #2.
2.  Tall Mom Challenge....I have stayed on track with my running and am only 3.8 miles away from hitting my 2011 goal of running 1500 miles!!!  With all that happened in the Spring I was uncertain if I would get there but I am so close I can taste it!!
3.  Budget Victory....well even though I have stocking stuffers to get and I forgot to click buy on an Amazon order, I have managed to stay within a budget this year.  I have caught some great sales that allowed me to get great gifts at a good price!

How about you....What victories have you had this holiday season???
