Monday Motivation

On my way to Boston this weekend, I was catching up on my AMR podcasts.  They were talking about the most inspirational thing someone had said to them; something that made them feel they could do something big.  It got me thinking about recently something that was said to me that has inspired me.  Over the summer, I was working out with a trainer (whom I look forward to working out with each week) and she told me that she was excited to work with me because she could tell I was an athlete.  Now at the time this new mother, 20lbs overweight, lugging around a much wider middle was a far cry from my days as a college athlete but little did she know that this was exactly what I needed to hear!  She saw something in me that I wanted to see too...that I wanted to get out...that I knew was in me!  I AM an athlete...we all have that in us somewhere!  See it in yourself and let it out!  Train like an athlete...fuel like an athlete...push limits like an athlete...reach your goals like an athlete!!
What was something inspirational that someone said to you?

  3. I love that- we often don't realize how powerful our words can be! In Houston, I was part of a running group and the coach really inspired me too, that we can always keep improving if we put in the work.

  4. I asked my husband what is one thing he would say about me in my eulogy if I died (it was hypothetical) lol and he said that I always see the best in people and I don't judge others. It made me smile.

  5. It's nice to hear those things, I may not be at my best but when someone compliments how strong I am etc... then I feel great and sometimes it is just the motivation I need to keep on going down the path I am on.

  6. A. you are totally an athlete
    B. love it when someone outside sees it before we do
Hmmm for me I think truly just hearing my husband or my parents say they are proud of me for taking risks, always boosts my motivation

  7. My husband has been helping his cousin train to walk a half-marathon. Cousin has commented a couple of times to each of us, as to how inspiring we are to him. It's such a wonderful feeling that doing something we love and demonstrating it is helping to inspire someone else - even just one person. What a gift.

  8. That is such a great story! I am trying to embrace my "new mom" body and work on getting back into running and training. I can only imagine what it would have been like to hear that comment!

  9. An awesome trainer once told me, "you are stronger than you think". Whenever I feel like I can't do it, I say those words over and over in my head and sure enough I CAN do it.
