Monday Motivation

This past week has been frustrating...temps finally rose above freezing and I had more time to run than usual since it was vacation week...but I couldn't run...I couldn't swing a kettlebell...I could barely lift my daughter!  Hurting my back has kept me from taking those step toward my goals...it could keep me from running one of my favorite races next month...but I'm not giving up!  I'm going to do what I can today to get my core stronger and my eating cleaner so that when I can run and swing the bells I will be ready...and stronger than before!  This injury is just a setback...no need to throw in the towel now!!
Have you ever wanted to just quit due to an injury?  What kept you pushing forward?

  2. That is awesome! Yes, I have seriously considered quitting running altogether on 2 occasions and both were due to an injury. I questioned whether or not the frustration is worth it. I'm still running :)

  3. That's a great quote! I've never really had a serious injury in the twelve years I've been a runner. But I think what would keep me going, is that the thought of nót running is too awful to contemplate.

  7. Hope you are back at it soon! I like working out too much to ever quit and you know my struggles lately. It will get better you will be swinging those bells in no time, it just feels like forever.

  9. I've wanted to quit before. So bad. When the PF started up, then my knee popped and it looked like I'd need surgery. I wanted to quit. I cried, I sulked. It was a fantastic time to be around me. But after I got it all out, I realized there are other ways to be fit and happy. That's when I got back into yoga and strength. Then slowly came back the running. It was a slow road to recovery, but a necessary one! Hugs to you!!!

  10. I've definitely quit and while maybe it isn't great, mentally I needed a break from running.

  11. My running truly kicked it up 20 notches last summer/fall when I decided to train for something big like my first marathon. Had I torn my ACL prior to that, I'm not sure I would have been as determined as I am now in recovery and rehab. But now, running is officially who I am and that alone is the strength I need to never give up :-) You've got such a great attitude and will be stronger than ever!

  12. I hope you feel better ASAP! Love the quote:) So true. After my 1st marathon I did take a big break from running. It was so mental for me. But I hopped back on the wagon again. I don't think we can go too long without getting back to it:)

  13. Injuries suck--it's so easy to get OFF the fitness wagon, but you'll be back soon!
