Monday Motivation...Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!

Obstacles are easy to see....they are big and sometimes overwhelming.  Sometimes they take on the form of an injury or fatigue....other times they are our day to day commitments that seem to hedge us in on all sides.  How many times have you uttered the words, "I can't....I'm too busy."  One thing about fitness is that it is a choice.  Choice to me in this sense is a verb....a doing word...choosing to be fit and healthy...choosing to run that race....choosing to do that triathlon...choosing to eat right....choosing to workout.  A coworker of mine once asked me how I had time to work out so much.  My answer was that I didn't have a choice not to.  I want to be fit and be able to run races so I schedule it all in just like it is one of my daily chores to do.
What is your goal?  What choices do you make so that those pesky obstacles don't block your view?

  1. I love this. It is so true. My goal is to consistently choose to run/bike and eat healthy. I do really good about eating healthy. I usually do really well about working out, but everyone has their days. On those days, I just try not to allow myself to make excuses. I force myself to get out the door and begin my workout.

  2. This is a great post. I don't think anyone sits around with tons of time on their hands so they work out. Everyone has to make time to be fit and healthy. Hope you have a great week!

  3. I love what you told your co-worker! You are so right, it is a choice, and I don't know how you could make any other. Unfortunately, many people make the wrong choice:( Love the quote!

  8. I totally agree with what you said, and what BOB says! People "have time" for what they MAKE time for! If it's Mad Men, so be it, but don't ask me how I have "so much time" to work out! I don't have any more time than anyone else: I just use it differently.

I always make a schedule. Also, signing up for a race and having a training schedule are the key to me for keeping in shape/staying motivated.
