Rut Busters
We've all been there in funky town where we are lacking motivation but know we should be getting in our workouts.
So what do you do to punch your one way ticket OUT OF TOWN?? What have been your go to rut busters??
Talk to me!!!
Oh gosh...I have so many (b/c I have been in SO many ruts!)LOL The ones that help the most are: signing up for a fun race (for me that is a trail run) - a race that I'm not going to be worried about my finish time and am just going to enjoy it, buying new running gear (whether that is a new pair of shoes, a jacket, a headband, etc) - it makes me want to get out the door and give it a try, and since I am a fan of listening to music, I like to change up my music!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, you know I'm in a rut right now. I'm hoping that signing up for a virtual race, writing down my plan and time will help pull me out of this funk.
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the rut I'm really in and the reason why. Right now I'm in a rut for cardio because I'm trying to recover from 2 injuries. Usually it's just shaking it up. Doing something completely new, even just changing the weight splits. Now if it's life...kind of the same thing applies. Change things up a bit, stop with the routine that's put you in the rut.
ReplyDeleteCreating a new goal to accomplish!!!
ReplyDeletesigning up for a race or some other new goal
ReplyDeleteIf I'm just having a day where I'm not feeling it, I phone a friend. I set up a time that we will meet up for a work out that day. Then I have no choice but to work out.
Change the route - the time of day - the length of the run... or just take a break! Might be good to have a rest from it, actually.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above -- a new goal or race is always good. I started running on trails once a week and now I am up to 3 or 4 times a week and I love it! It is so much more fun than the road. Also, I go to different places to run, change it up a little etc.
ReplyDeleterunning in a new area! or trying a new workout for a while :)
ReplyDeleteRegister for a race. Tell the world I want to run x-miles. Go to the gym and do something different. Just try to do something and good luck!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I find myself in the rut because I am burnt out, and it just takes one complete rest day (or two) to recharge my batteries and motivate me to get back out there again!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm in a rut right now - to the point that I'm seriously considering giving up running for awhile and maybe switching to biking or swimming. I don't know. It's so hard.
ReplyDeletei like to find a local race or something active that'll be in the near future...that seems to kick my booty into gear! hope it helps...
ReplyDeleteThat would be hard. I think reading running blogs and blogging seems to help me a lot. Other people are great motivation!
ReplyDeleteA new challenge or goal. Very few things motivate me more.
ReplyDeleteAlso, other runners. Browsing blogs, reading stories, etc. motivates me to work out or go for a run.
