Fitness Friday....In the Mirror

I should have known a post like this was coming....I could feel it coming on.  It could have to do with the fact that the temps have spiked higher than 90 with what feels like 100% humidity....or that my hotel room has a full length mirror and I'm able to see myself from the waste down for the first time in 5 months....or I'm just bound to have a huge tank a$$ and legs during pregnancy.  I apologize ahead of time knowing I will probably sound like I'm whining.  I remember feeling this way during my last pregnancy though and didn't feel like I had the ability to talk about it...so lucky you!

Next week I reach my 6th month and while I feel so blessed by being able to to continue to run and workout still, I can't seem to keep from feeling horrible about the way that I look.  I find myself trying to go unseen which is not an easy feat considering how big I am.  I guess I thought this pregnancy was going to be different...that I wouldn't get so big, but seriously from my waste down I can help but shudder when I look.   I am not one of those ladies who just gets a bump...or is able to wear her regular clothes well into her pregnancy...or can pull amazing runs out of her belt like she isn't even pregnant.

I'm big....but more than that I feel big...I'm fighting feelings I thought I had long since conquered and put behind me.  I'm fighting wanting to "diet" knowing that it wouldn't be safe.  I'm fighting these feelings not only for myself but also because I have a little pair of 3 year-old eyes watching me this time around.  A pair of eyes who sees her mommy as strong....and a beautiful princess.  Perhaps I should start using her mirror!!!  At least I should start trying to find the fit girl I feel like in the mirror in front of me.

Thanks for letting me vent...I'm sure I'm not the first woman to feel huge while being pregnant....And like I said on Monday....my comeback is going to ROCK!!!

  1. Vent away! That's what blogs are for right? I guarantee while you might not like the way you look/feel, that you look gorgeous! Nothing cuter than a baby belly!! Try not to worry about too much about food, eat & enjoy but banish that diet word for now. Take care!!

  3. Oh Nancy no worries about that stuff, but of course it is okay to vent. You will be back better than ever after the baby. I remember those days, because I was the same way. I wasn't the tall, cute, pregnant lady, every place that I could gain weight I did and like you i took care of myself. Stay cool!

  8. i've never been pregnant so in noooo way can i relate. but i did just watch pregnant in heels so clearly I should be able to comment yes? :)

She had a woman feeling very much the same and I think what consistently brought her back was hearing the heart beat and having those moments of cherishing this journey of pregnancy rather than thinking forward or back about her body.

  9. It's so hard to lose control of your body and the things you've worked so hard for. It's a hard lesson to appreciate the amazing things that your body is doing right now. You'll get through this and get your body back *and* have an amazing little person in your life.

    You'll get there.

  11. Think not only of the little one's eyes watching you, but also of the little one inside you... he/she is so worth it! Soon(I know it's a relative term when the temps get hot and summer drags by) those little eyes will be loving you from the outside as well. You are a strong, beautiful momma ... you can do this!

  12. Hugs my friend!!! I know it is so hard to be pregnant in the summer - I was so swollen and BIG with all three of my boys. You are beautiful though and you are healthy and strong - that is what matters the most. You are growing a life inside of you and still managing to run and be a mom and all that you do. Your body is amazing. :) In a few months it will be cooler and you will have that baby in your arms and you will be back to your normal self in no time. Hugs!!!!

  14. I always joked that with both of my boys my butt was trying to grow faster than my stomach. I seriously gained weight all over, despite eating mostly healthy and working out a fair amount. Just keep up what you are doing and grow that healthy baby. You'll have plenty of time to get back to normal afterwards.

  19. Feel free to vent anytime you'd like! I haven't been pregnant before so I can't relate but I hear time and again how hard it is to be pregnant in the summer. You are amazing for doing all that you do and setting a stellar example for everyone around you!
