Nothing like a toddler's honest words to snap you back into reality! The other day after coming home from the hospital, my loving, sweet Em patted my stomach and asked, "Is there another baby in there Mommy?" Ouch... I never claimed to be like one of those celebrities or amazing moms who walk out of the hospital in their pre-pregnancy jeans but I thought I would look a little less....well pregnant. I mean I'm no Kristen Cavallari
but I did stay active up until the day I had her. I've been here before...that place laced with exhaustion where you feel much smaller than the mirror reveals. I know what it takes to get back to where I was...and I will get there one step at a time...but boy oh boy do I need the encouragement because I'm feeling discouraged and overwhelmed about where to begin! If only I could snap my fingers and be able to head outside and bang out 10 miles or zip up my jeans, but I know that time will come....it is just getting there and right now getting sleep!
You got this girl! Sending lots of encouragement your way!
ReplyDeleteYou have just lived the super power of the century .... growing and having a human baby being; enjoy it, revel in it .... heck SLEEP while your little miracle sleeps. All the ground work you put in while preggers will pay dividends and you will snap back in time xx
ReplyDeleteOh, hon! Be sure to cut yourself some slack! Enjoy that baby..enjoy your toddler...enjoy some sleep. You will bounce back, but you need some time first! Take care!
ReplyDeleteAwe .. don't be discouraged. I remember after having my forth baby almost two years ago (at age 35) that I felt like it took way longer to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. When my yoga pants even felt uncomfortable (I too deliver with c-sections). But you will get there and it really won't take that long. Hang in there and enjoy snuggling that beautiful little baby!
ReplyDeleteIt's only been a couple of days girl! You will be back in no time. I remember those days though, so I understand your frustration:) Rest/recovery first, then you can hit the road:)
ReplyDeleteHa. I think every mom gets asked if they still have a baby in there by a toddler. You'll get it all back eventually, just give it time.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at encouraging and inspiring others here on this blog that I know you've got it in you! I don't know what it feels like because I've never gone through it but I have spent many hours worrying about it if I ever get pregnant, and I know that it must take work but you don't seem like someone who backs down until they get what they want. Congrats and kick butt!
ReplyDeleteAwww Nancy I have no doubt that with your determination you will be right back where you want to be...but first you have to cut yourself a big ole break, ok? For now, enjoy the rest when you can get it ;)
ReplyDeleteI was also amazed at how pregnant I still looked after giving birth! You'll be back to your old self in no time - but for now your body just needs a bit of rest and TLC. It just did something absolutely amazing! x
ReplyDeleteI can hear all of the determination and motivation as I read this so you will be back in no time! Those races are always going to be there waiting for you so enjoy while you can!
ReplyDeleteHaha, don't you just love kids...just laugh it off and have fun with your fitness. it'll come.
ReplyDeleteJust take it easy, sleep and enjoy your beautiful girls :). You were so good and active your whole pregnancy- your body will be back to normal before you know it! My kids always liked to point out how "squishy" my stomach was after having a baby. Come to think of it, they still say that.
ReplyDeleteHang in there-I'm 1 YEAR post partum and I'm just starting to feel normal working out.
ReplyDeleteawww, don't get too hard on urself, like Brad said, u just gotta laugh at the brutal honesty of kids. and also kno that in NO WAY was it intended to be a negative, it's only really that we get older that remarking that there's some squish is a negative. to the wee one's it's just an observation like the sky is blue...lol. but that said, don't stress, that's wat running is for, and anyways having ur beautiful girls is well worth any resulting squish. :)
ReplyDeleteYou just have to take care of yourself and the new baby! There will be plenty of time for miles later. Don't rush it you will just end up more stressed than you need to be!
ReplyDeleteIt's tough at first but in reality it doesn't matter in the end and you know you are going to lose the baby weight. It will take time but you will! All that matters is that your kids are healthy and you love them :) They love you too!
