Ok so I didn't mean that....I meant more of this...
Today as I was getting ready for the gym I glanced in the mirror. After getting over my scary morning face (seriously how do I not scare people at the gym) I noticed something disturbing....my muscle tone, or rather lack there of! Before moving to Cape Cod I was working out with a trainer who kicked my butt from one end of the gym to the other! I took a lot of her classes where she did TRX and treadmill work with weights....lots of weights. Yeah I would say I got pretty jacked. Since moving here I have run and run until my legs fell off and then I ran some more. Now my legs are looking pretty good but the rest of the package not so much. After this weekend's race I am focusing more on weights and not subsituting my weight days for extra mileage. The hubs and I have a wedding to go to this June and I would love to be able to show off my Sarah Jessica Parker arms (I wish) in a nice sleeveless dress...you know as opposed to my chicken wings right now! Any good upper body workouts you can suggest?
Ugh...I feel the same way! I was in such great shape a year ago and didn't stick to lifting and my core has paid for it! I hate losing it!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to mix it up, but so important! Good luck with getting back into it! And good luck in your race this weekend!
I have been working more on strength training this past year to keep my arms and shoulders in good shape too. Arms are great, but skin is getting older and failing me!
ReplyDeleteI like to do do 3 supersets of 10 each with 5 or 8 lb. dumbbells:
Bicep curls/Tricep kickbacks
Lat raises/Overhead presses
Delt raises/Upright rows
Lawnmower rows/Frontal raises
And don't forget that pushups are wonderful for arms and shoulders too.
I know lots of people are doing BodyRocktv bodyweight workouts too.
I feel the same way, ALL around! One step at a time though, you got this!
ReplyDeletePUSHUPS! Complete upper body workout...even gets those abs! Checkout hundredpushups.com for a six week program. I did this a while back and am starting again. All you need is you! :0)
ReplyDeleteSJP does have it going on. I do a push-up/sit-up routine every other day that is quick and easy. You do 15s--14 push-ups/1 sit-up; 13/2; 12/3 and so on. You end up with 105 of each. Give it a try!
ReplyDeleteArms are tough. I do Bodypump at my gym and my arms look pretty good. Not real defined, but not flabby. BTW My "Grandma Lill's Happy 95th" virtual race starts today! I hope you can join me:)
ReplyDeleteI'll send you an email. I have all my workouts from my trainer in a binder..there's a lot of good upper body stuff. Hope your race went well!!
ReplyDeletewoohoo, i'm in need too...send my way!!! her arms look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the poster who suggested push ups. :) Good luck!
ReplyDeletewow those are some big old guns...i need them! i bet you are close to that!
ReplyDeleteI have totally slacked on my upper body too lately and am determined to get back at it. I love pushups, Bodyrock.tv really helped with my upper body and lower body last winter.
