Some people can run without music all the time...they enjoy the sound of their breathing and the world around them....me not so much! I need not only the distraction of the music but also the rhythm of the song to keep my cadence. Yes my range in music looks like I may have multiple personalities (from Pitbull and Whiz Kalipha to Glee) I try to pick songs and put them in an order that is going to work for the race I'm running. For example, my last half marathon mix started with a few slower songs since I always get caught up in the rush of the start. Along the way were faster paced songs and those killer "go kick butt" anthems mixed in for an extra boost. Well I am on the hunt for more music to add to my play list for this weekend's big race. I know my fellow Fitfluential Ambassador Samantha over at
Running and Cupcakes wrote
Monday on motivating songs and last week about the
worst songs.
What would you add to the list of songs that make you shake your groove thang? What puts that push in your stride? Come on folks....I have 20 miles to cover here!!!
How could I forget......Happy Valentine's Day!!
No laughing - my music can be a little weird. Fav songs include It's Your Life/Francesca Battistelli, All American Girl/Melissa Etheridge, Who Says/Selena Gomez, Barefoot Bluejean Night/Jake Owen (good one to warm up)
ReplyDeleteSo in my 1/2 this past weekend I was seriously about to walk when suddenly "Rammstein- Du Hast" came on my player-- despite being mile 9, it was one of my faster miles because of that song
ReplyDeleteYou already saw some of mine on my post today. I LOVE that you walked into your reception to MNF!

ReplyDeleteI just added Stronger by Kelly Clarkson to my running mix, and I Love "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera. My all time favorite running power song though is All These Things That I've Done. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite running song right now is Beyonce's Run The World, it can push me up any hill. I too have a weakness for songs that were on Glee, so Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO was added to my playlist after last weeks episode and is great to run with. My other favorites are:

ReplyDeleteI tend to only be able to use music on my shorter runs if not I go out too fast for the longer ones. My taste in music is a little odd though. I like a little bit of everything from Juanes, Cake, Toadies, Pitbull, Bowling for Soup, Rancid, LMFAO, to Daft Punk...
ReplyDeleteI don't have one to add but I'm loving reading everyone elses! Happy Valentines Day!
ReplyDeleteI have some techno mixes I like, but is that up your alley! Anything by David Guetta usually gets me pumped! Good luck on your 20!!

Sorry if this is off topic, but I saw your latest comment over on Tall Mom. Glad you like the database idea. Just wanted to let you know that this database applies to all states. If you want to find other MA runners, just go down to the State Search field enter in MA, and click Search. You should find every MA runner in the database. Happy runnings!
ReplyDeleteMy running playlist is always Muse - all their fast songs and a few of their slow songs. They are my favorite and keep me going as long as they play...
