This quote has become more and more real to me each day I lace up my shoes. The past two week though I have been feeling great! Enjoying the slower pace and the new opportunity to help my sister reach her goal of running a 10k this September at the ZOOMA Cape Cod race. The other day during our long run (which was her farthest run ever) she made the comment that this was probably the slowest 5 miler I had ever done. My comment back was, "I don't care about the pace....look at how far you just ran!" Starting out is never easy but just taking that first step and celebrating along the way will get you to where you want to go. There will always be time for speed...celebrate the small victories along the way!!!
Fellow ZOOMA and Fitfluential Ambassador Amy has a great guest post on the ZOOMA blog this morning about the perks of running an all-girls race. Check it out! love that quote too!!!
ReplyDeleteany movement and progress is better than sitting still!
That's a great quote! I'm slow and steady and am still thrilled by the speed improvements I've been able to make.
ReplyDeleteNever give up!
I love this quote. I LIVE this quote.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all girl races. I love how they are less intimidating to some women. I know that was how I got started was a womens only race :) Great job to your sister!
ReplyDeleteyes!!! this is my motto lately...just keep moving forward. forward progress is always better than no progress! love your outlook:)
ReplyDeleteLove this quote! Kudos to your sister - sounds like she's doing great!
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeletethanks Nancy-I would have stopped for breakfast in the middle without you!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote and it's pretty much what I told myself during my entire 8 miles of running in way too hot heat and humidity. Not my furthest and my fastest and it would have been so easy to justify not running due to the heat. I was so proud of those 8 miles :)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter if you run a mile in 7 minutes or 14. A mile is a mile. :D I never worry about how FAST I'm running. Running isn't for anyone but me. ME.
ReplyDeleteI definitely learned to appreciate that I was running and not focus so much on pace when I was returning to running after my injury. Sometimes it is nice to just get out there and run without being so caught up on the pace.
ReplyDeleteSo appropriate that you posted this quote today! This morning, my Garmin wasn't working, so I hit the road only knowing how far I'd go, but not what my pace would be. So I made my goal to simply not stop. I still can only guess how long I was running, but I know I ran 3 miles :)
ReplyDeleteSlow and steady wins the race. I'm training for my first 10k and its a slow process, but I am getting farther and stronger each day.
ReplyDeleteTo train with your sister and share this eperience with her is amazing and will always be something you both will remeber.
