Three Things Thursday

I feel like it's been a long time since I've done a Three Things...then again I feel like a lot of time has gone by since I've done many things...like run!
So sit back and enjoy this week's Three Random Things!
1.  My inner skinny...One thing that I'm feeling this week is that I feel much skinnier than I actually am...it makes things hard because when I look in the mirror it sometimes surprises me!  Weird and random I know!  I know that as time goes by the reflection will surely match the way I feel inside...especially once I get the green light to work out in 4 more weeks!
2.  Second time around...Today I brought Aubrey to her 2 week check-up.  In the waiting room with me was a couple with a one-week old (their first) and an expecting mom.  I honestly wanted to give them both hugs!  Certainly I do not think I have this whole mom thing down pat and yes I did cry while watching friggin Rachel Ray this morning, but the looks of terror on both their faces made me realize that my Mom was right...you are much more relaxed the second time around!  Has anyone else had this experience with #2?
3.  Toddler turn-around...Please do not get me wrong on this point, Em is an amazing little girl but I feel like since starting preschool (and yes I am fully aware that this coincides with a pint-sized addition to our family) her behavior has me saying, "Do the kids in your class act like that?" more times than not!  Seriously I don't know where she gets half the stuff these days!  As a teacher I wonder what things my students have gone home with through the years that had their parents scratching their heads!  One mom at school told me there is a 6 month adjustment for kids when they start school....does that mean I get my sweet...only sometimes sassy chickie back?

What random thoughts are on your mind this Thursday?

  2. I so get #1 Nancy! Feeling skinny and then I see a pic of myself. Thankfully it doesn't happen often but when it does...ugh! Weird!

  3. Definitely felt more relaxed with child #2 - don't get me wrong they will throw you curve balls...and different curve balls from the 1st child, but you just learn to roll with it better :)

  4. Yes, things are much less scary the 2nd time around. Don't worry your outer will match your inner soon enough:)

  5. Just wait until child #3 (ha, ha!); they practically raise themselves!
I'm currently dealing with the 'teenager turnaround'; maybe not so difficult as the toddler version. At least they have vocabulary and reasoning skills...
Enjoy it Nancy! It goes by sooooo fast!

  6. Yup! I felt so skinny after giving birth but, yeah, I sure wasn't. Although, I got back to pre-baby weight much faster the second time around than I did the first.

  7. I completely relate to 1 and 3. I only have one child at the moment, so 2 does not apply. Your number 3 especially spoke to me. My daughter just started daycare/preschool 2 days a week. She seems to have morphed over night into a fit throwing crazy mess. Part of me thinks it is coming from the other kids in her class, and then I worry about what we are doing or how to correct this behavior. She literally when from sweet and cuddly to monster toddler overnight!

  8. Yes! We're dealing with the same toddler crankiness- I hadn't thought about it being connected to school... good to know. Hope it takes much less than six months, for all of us!

  10. I'm sure your body is going to quickly be exactly where you want it to be once you get the approval from the doctor.

I don't have kids. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is in 3 months and I don't know when we'll have children. I love kids but I am TERRIFIED that I will screw them up. Until that time comes, I'll continue with social work and assisting other peoples children. HA!

  11. 2nd time around is definitely easier, I actually waited 11 years but I am much more comfortable now. My 4 year old comes home saying the craziest things, they definitely pick up some crazy stuff at school!!!

You will run soon and regain your "figure"!! I feel skinnier than I am too, I have gained a few since not being able to run....I am ready to take those pounds off.

  12. I love the "inner skinny" comment. My grandmother says she still pictures herself as a supple young woman and sometimes gets a shock when she looks in the mirror and sees an old lady! However, unlike my grandma, you will be back to your skinny self in no time! Just enjoy your new baby and don't worry too much about that right now.

  13. Hi :) Never underestimate how BIG both those changes are in your toddlers little life... she has nothing to 'draw on' to comfort herself...going to 'school' for the first time is 'huge' for her and becoming a big sister is 'HUGE' as far as life changes go... my advice is... remember she is still just a 'big baby' herself and treat her as such... if u really support her through this time and she feels really loved and understood she will stop acting out ... little kids can't express how they 'feel' about things ... it's up to us to translate... i am sure u will find a way to reassure her... u may want to 'pull out your hair' while trying... but u will get there :)
