Three Things Thursday

Good morning!  Welcome to your weekly dose of randomness!!  Some weeks I have a focus for my three things but more often than most it is random....enjoy the randomness!
1.  My fellow #Fitfluential Ambassador Chris Donnelly posted a call to action after hearing that size 6 is now being considered plus size in the modeling world!  Size 6!!!!  Really???  It concerns me where things are going in the area of body image with young girls.  As a mom I make sure I am celebrating fitness and fit women.  What are your thoughts on this??  Read more about the story here and head on over to check out what Chris has to say here.
2.  I haven't hidden that a lot has been going on here in Fancy Nancy Land and I am really starting to think it is effecting my running.  I find myself mid-run wanting to stop for no other reason than I just don't feel like running anymore.  I even found myself thinking last night that maybe I should take some time off of running.....what????  This is so frustrating to me!!  Running is my place to shed the stress...get in touch with me....rise above it all!  I know it all comes down to mental toughness....pushing myself and finishing which I do.  Do you ever find yourself having to push to keep going even if it isn't from being too physically tough?  What have you done to push through?
3.  Mill Time?  I had posed the question on Twitter a few weeks back about people's thoughts on treadmill brands.  I am thinking about getting a treadmill in order to help me fit in my workouts while also allowing the hubs to get his workouts in.  Here's the challenge....I've owned only one treadmill and it was given to me for free.  We left it behind when we moved.  So I have no idea what treadmills cost and what is worth paying for and what isn't.  Any words of advice?

  1. I've had those periods where I just feel like stopping. I usually give in and step back a bit. For me (not saying others would be the same), running stops being fun during those times so I just have to re-adjust a bit. On the mill, I have a Sole F80. I ordered it off Amazon b/c it was cheaper that way, I'm happy with it, not a lot of bells and whistles but is supposed to hold up well.

  2. First off, I'm finding you from your comment on my Another Mother Runner Post - so glad to "meet" you!
Next, size 6 is in no way plus size.
Third, if you figure out the treadmill question, let me know. I'm tired of going to the gym to run on one there.

  3. Size six is considered plus. Oh my. I am going to have to go and have a good cry. I am like 6 plus 6 plus 6... I am disgusting.

  4. Size 6 a plus. That's insane!!
I think a treadmill has saved my running routine. I wouldn't be able to get in the miles I want to. It's been great! We have a Nordictrack.

  5. SIZE 6 well now that just makes me furious!! There is a difference between being healthy and in shape and just starving yourself to fit into a pair of pants... Ok I'm done being angry, we just need to stop buying the magazines etc that promote this

  6. Ugh- plus sized. I don't understand what is happening to our world! It's scary.
I need info on treadmills, too. I NEVER go to the gym, so I canceled my membership but sometimes it's just too snowy/slippery to go outside!

  7. I'll have to follow up your links on the sz 6 discussion, that is crazy. I've had those moments of not wanting to run--usually if I'm training too hard and my body needs a break. It might not be a bad idea to take a few days off and do other things, to regain your motivation to run!

  8. I guess I am nearly plus sized. Sweet! People in the fashion industry are a little warped I think!

  9. I totally feel you on number 2. It has been really hard to get motivated lately! Really hard! It is probably just because of the cold and when you are busy it is easy to put off exercise...but I don't like it! Let's both get back on track, girl!

  11. I bought my treadmill through Costco and it's AMAZING! It included delivery and assembly and it's better than the mill at the gym! Best about Costco is you can return the item anytime! Good luck!

  12. The fashion world and sizing are getting WAY out of hand. It's so sad and all the models look miserable. But they will always push the limits. Whats weird is being skin and bones doesn't even look good.

Losing the running motivation. I have struggled myself with that. That's one of the reasons I'm switching things up. I like to run and have some amazing runs but I don't always love running. I totally agree with you about it being your time and your release. I forget how much I need running for my mental state...it takes a good run to remind me why I do love running!
