What's Your Prerace Routine?

Happy weekend all!  Had one of those long runs yesterday that you want to put in a jar and pull out each and every weekend!  It was cool enough that you don't realize you're sweating and my legs felt powerful again!  Ahhh!  I wish it could always be that way!

Here's the topic for today's episode of "Coffee Talk"....remember SNL....discuss....ha!  There is a big race going on today down on Cape Cod called the Falmouth Road Race.  It's a big race, about 10,000 runners and has a lottery system for all non Falmouth residents.  Yeah around these parts and most of New England this is a big deal race.  It's a race on most runners' bucket list....ok and mine too!  Either way since we live close to Falmouth the area is swimming with runners....you can really pick us people out in a crowd!!!  Last night we headed out to dinner locally and there were several tables of people talking about the race.  My hubby asked me a very good question as one table ordered another round of very large beers and nachos.....Is this how runners get ready for a race?  My response was, not if they want to finish!  I know that eats like that before a race would leave me begging for mercy around mile 5!
What about you.....
How do you prerace?  Are you a beer and nachos runner or do you do something different?

Good luck to all of you racing today!!!  Go rock it!!!!

  1. The night before my last race, I had Mexican food and things turned out very well. I doubt I will make a habit of that. :)

  2. I am usually a simple pasta girl myself! I did have mexican food the night before one half and the race was horrible! It wasn't because of the food, though :)

  3. I love the feeling of powerful legs. I wish I felt like that more often! But when I do, it's bliss!

    I don't have a prerace routine, because I don't race.

  4. I like to eat No Yolk egg noodles with Buitoni alfredo sauce...mmmmmmm.

When I was unemployed and had an interview-my husband used to get me a bagel and cup of coffee from Brueggers bagels.

  6. I'm jealous of your great long run! I haven't had one of those since spring and I miss them big time! I'm trying to work my way back up.

Pasta and water for me, although I did have a glass of wine last time and I don't think it had any ill effect.

  7. I had lasagna last night and drank water all day. NO soda at all, just focused on hydrating.

Falmouth rocked this year. I had the best time and a great race! You have to do it next year Nancy. We should try to meet up!!

  8. I don't have a specific pre-race routine, but I do try to make balanced choices. Definitely lots of water.

  9. Sounds like a fantastic long run!

My pre-race meals are usually pretty simple - pancakes, simple pasta or pizza. Nachos and beer would be the end of my race, no doubt!
