Fitness Friday-Finish Line Kick

How do you finish your weekly workouts?
Do you find yourself throwing your hands in the air like this:

Or do you find your self struggling to get it done like this:

I always start my week strong....much like I start my races.  I am starting with my legs feeling strong and my pace quick.  Monday morning I'm up early and at the gym with time to spare. The middle of the week I am still hitting my goals and sometimes even going over mileage...then come Thursday and Friday....like miles 10-12 of a half marathon.  It's a mental game to get me out of bed....I negotiate with myself about what rewards I can get if I just finish.  Then Saturday is that last kick...a long run and then the week (race) is through.  Ideally I would love to have a consistent week where my workouts are just as strong on Friday as they are on Monday.  I set my goals at the beginning of the week and am on track to reach them but just like miles 11-12....it isn't pretty!!

How do YOU finish your week of workouts....full stride through the week or shuffling over the hill?

  1. Well I have a 8 mile run scheduled tomorrow.....I will see how that goes. I usually get wore out by the end of the week with work, kids, chores, shewww... I just want to relax and have a glass of wine!

  2. Well...truth be told, if I were running, I'd be so joyful! But swimming, which is all I can do, not so much!

  3. I had tons of energy on Monday, Tuesday and Wedneday not so much, and by Thursday I can see the weekend coming and can bounce out of bed again. By Saturday, I'm excited for a long run, and not having to get up before dawn to do it, so all is good then!

  4. This week has been hard for me with travel, quitting a job & starting a new one on Monday. On this morning's run, I DEF looked like Brian (runner #2) - but, at least I can run :) Happy Friday!

  7. Midweek is the hardest for me. For some reason the weekend and the beginning of the week feel pretty good. I usually look forward to the Long run, but more so when I am getting enough sleep. Have a great weekend!!

  9. My weekend runs are easy, I'm meeting with running buddies and I'm excited to run outside, especially right now. Weekdays are my problem, after a long day at work I have a really hard time to motivate myself.

  12. I think I go through strong beginning, lull of mid-week and end strong because I love and enjoy the long run on Sat. Mid-week lack of motivation is tough!
